Another national story of interest: Riverside HS (Durham, NC) Joel Evans rushed for 419 yards and six scores in a 63-49 win over Cleveland (Clayton, N.C.). That’s 34.9 yards per carry. Santa Margarita softball standout Garland Cooper ’03 was recently inducted into Northwestern University’s elite Hall of Fame. Cooper, along with three other former Northwestern athletic standouts to receive this prestigious designation, were recognized during halftime of the Northwester-Purdue men’s basketball game. Congratulations to starting Quarterback, Travis Wilson (2012 San Clemente High School graduate) and the Utah Utes for the season opening win against in-state rival Utah State. Capo Valley Announces New Football Coach

Ernst Bucher is officially the new Cougars Football coach. Bucher has seventeen years experience as an assistant or coordinator, including the past three years under coach Matt Poston. Bucher began his coaching career at La Quinta (1995-98). He has also worked at Capistrano Valley (1999-2001), Estancia (2002-04) and Aliso Niguel (2005-09) before returning to Capistrano Valley in 2010.
