Trabuco Hills High School Football and the Best Buddies Club

The Best Buddies is a volunteer program designed to foster one-on-one relationships for people with intellectual and development disabilities.

Trabuco Hills High School and the student volunteers are a great example of how volunteers can give back to their community. The Trabuco Hills football team is a great example of those efforts.

For each home game the Mustangs take one or two special needs kids and make them the captain for the day. They join the players in the team meals, wear a team jersey and come out on the field for the coin toss and get to watch the game from the sidelines.

Handicapped/special education teacher, Kara Johnson, runs the Best Buddies club at the school and she has enjoyed seeing the partnership and relationships between the student-athletes and members of her club.
