Santa Margarita softball standout Garland Cooper ’03 was recently inducted into Northwestern University’s elite Hall of Fame. Cooper, along with three other former Northwestern athletic standouts to receive this prestigious designation, were recognized during halftime of the Northwester-Purdue men’s basketball game. Newport Harbor’s Taylor Takes First Again!

Marty Taylor won the shot put and discus titles for the fourth straight time in last weekends event at the Beach Cities Invitational at Huntington Beach High. Taylor is the state leader in the shot put and he has set a new meet record with a winning distance of 59 feet, seven inches.

Newport Harbor senior Marty Taylor took two first place finishes in the shot put and discuss. Taylor broke the meet record with a throw of 59-7.5 throw.
