Newport Harbor’s Taylor Takes First Again!

Marty Taylor won the shot put and discus titles for the fourth straight time in last weekends event at the Beach Cities Invitational at Huntington Beach High. Taylor is the state leader in the shot put and he has set a new meet record with a winning distance of 59 feet, seven inches.

Senior Max Kilkuts scored his second goal into the sudden death overtime to seal the win with a 4-3 victory. The Eagles beat last year’s national Champions, Regis Jesuit of Colorado to take the USA Hockey High School Boys’ Varsity National Championships in Coral Springs, Fla.

Santa Margarita Eagles Recognized as All-CIF Following the CIF-SS Championship Victory

Head Coach Kevin Ricks of Costa Mesa was named the 2012-2013 CIF-SS, Division II, Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to the CIF-SS Division II Championship, a Trinity League Championship and a 25-6 overall record. Mykkanen Breaks Two School Swimming Records

Foothill freshman Courtney Mykkanen broke two school records in a recent victory at El Modena in Century League action. Mykkanen’s time of 2:06.29 seconds in the 200-yard individual medley was more than a second faster than Megan Logan’s 1990 school record of 2:07.5. San Clemente High School claims it’s second CIF championship in just three seasons. Junior midfielder, Alek Cuck scored in the the 20th minute to make the score 1-0 over Servite in the CIF-SS Division Championship game on March 2. San clemente has won 30 games with 21 shutouts – both are school records.
